Randall "Randy" Kersten, age 60 of Oxford passed away early Tuesday morning, January 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family after losing his battle with ALS. Randy was born in Kenosha on November 7, 1953 to Calvin and Geraldine (Foreman) Kersten. He graduated from Tremper High School in Kenosha in 1971 and married Lori Gardinier on August 14, 1982.
Randy worked for Martin's Garage in Union Grove as the parts manager for many years until moving to Oxford in 1991 to help his family with their Christmas tree farm. In 1996, he opened Randy's Classis Auto. Randy always loved working on cars; whether restoring an old one or building them from scratch. In his younger years, he was a drag racer and also he enjoyed camping, golfing as well as snowmobiling. Randy's attention to detail was quite remarkable and it showed in everything he did. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his many friends. He will be greatly missed. Randy leaves behind: his wife, Lori, mother, Geraldine of Westfield and one daughter, Jamie (Andy) Puckett of Deforest. He is also survived by his sister, Lynnette (Donald) Van Beckum of Oxford and nephew, Justin of Oak Creek. Randy is preceded in death by his father, Calvin. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Oxford, 306 S. Franklin Avenue. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Larry Sheppard will preside and private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Home Health United Hospice, 1600 Jefferson Street, Baraboo, WI 53913.
