Raymond Bednarek

Montello

Raymond Michael Bednarek, age 77 of Montello passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.  Ray was born in Portage to Edmund Sr. and Rosalie (Berlowski) Bednarek on July 17, 1945.  He graduated from Montello High School in 1963 and furthered his education at the teachers college in Wautoma and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh earning a degree in education.  Ray married Faye Lambert at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma on June 21, 1980 and together they were blessed with six children. 

Ray taught for the Markesan School District for 45 years until he retired in 2015.  He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello, singing in the choir.  Ray enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling, skiing and most of all spending time with his family. 

Ray is survived by his wife of 42 years, Faye and six children: Benjamin (Holly) of Sioux Falls, SD, Adam (Monica) of Montello, Jennifer (Kevin) Kopmeyer of Montello, Jacob (Nikita) of Montello, Lucas (Ashley) of Budsin and Amanda (Joe) Bartelt of Baraboo as well as his grandchildren: Mason, Mialanna, Zachery, Rhylin, Hannah, Myles, Kyri, Kasper, Killian, Rosemary, Richard, Addison, Emmalyn and Savannah.  He is also survived by his brother, James (Patricia), sister, RoseAnn (Jerry Hebert) Yasick, two sisters-in-law: Marge Bednarek and Connie Lambert as well as his mother-in-law, Phoebe Lambert and two brothers-in-law: Allen (Jackie) Lambert and John (Bonnie) Lambert.  Ray is further survived by many extended family members and friends.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Edmund Jr. and John (Geraldine), sister, Agnes (Delbert) Hartford, father-in-law, Richard Lambert and brother-in-law, Mel Yasick Sr.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond Bednarek will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the hour of service.  Father Savio Yerasani will preside and inurnment will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a scholarship that will be established in Raymond’s name.
