Robert “Bob” Louis Luger, age 72 of Oxford passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025 at UW Hospital in Madison, WI, surrounded by family and loved ones. Bob was born on May 20, 1953 to Faye and Arlene (Gerbitz) Luger in Oxford. He was raised on the family farm in Douglas Township, Marquette County and graduated from Westfield High in 1971. Bob proudly served his Country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, where he obtained a rank of Sergeant prior to his discharge. Thus gaining him the nickname of “Little Sarge”. On June 9, 1984, he married Laura Woerle. They farmed in Briggsville and had two children before moving to Iron River, WI in 1993. After the cows were gone, Bob climbed back behind the wheel of an eighteen wheeler and hauled wood for Santikko Logging. Once his kids graduated, Bob moved back to Oxford where he joined his dad and brother in the family trucking company, COR-BE-LL LLC. Eventually he would return to long haul trucking before he had to “retire” due to his health but would continue to haul for his farmers during Harvest.
When he wasn’t behind the wheel of a semi or causing mischief, Bob always liked to go watch his daughter Megan show, ride horses and play basketball at Northwestern. When Tyler was racing, Bob was there to give advice and give a hand with the racecar. Bob also enjoyed going on a variety of hunting and fishing excursions, and don’t forget bowling. Bob enjoyed a good game of cribbage or euchre. He always looked forward to going to tractor pulls with family, friends, Tim Fischer and Ken & Dick Huber. As an avid dreamer, he would collect countless starter projects, and would tinker with them until the next project presented itself. During his breaks from tinkering, he enjoyed going on surprise visits up north to visit his daughter Megan and grandkids (always asking for coffee). While the grandkids were occupied, he enjoyed picking on his grandpuppy, 9. But his main love was to bs and share stories. He will be missed by everyone. It's not a goodbye, it’s “I'll yack at ya later.”
Bob is survived by;: Tyler of Oxford, Megan (Ed) Erickson of Ashland as well as two grandchildren: Peyton and Kason. He is also survived by three siblings: David (Shirley) of Endeavor, Diane Phillips of Reedsburg and Barbara (Robert) Furlano of La Crosse and godson, Brad (Jess) Luger as well as other extended family and very close friends.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Faye and Arlene, nephew, Todd Luger, and his beloved cat Desi.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the UW Health TLC nurses (Cathrine and Alli) and doctors for their care and compassion.
