Sandra Carter

November 2, 1940 — February 16, 2014

Sandra "Sandy" Carter, age 73 of Oxford passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family early Sunday morning, February 16, 2014 after losing her battle with cancer. Sandy was born in Milwaukee to William and Helen (Stolowski) Golla on November 2, 1940. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1957 and married John Carter at St. John Kanty Catholic Church in Milwaukee on September 12, 1959. Together she and John enjoyed their cottage on Buffalo Lake since the early 1970's and in 1997 the permanently moved to the Oxford area after retiring.

Sandy loved to fish and be outdoors. She enjoyed camping and sitting around the campfire and even the occasional trip to the casino. Sandy took great pride in caring for her family; her grandchildren meant the world to her and she cherished the many outings they had together. Sandy is survived by her husband of 54 years, John and three sons: Jeffrey (Katie) of West Allis, James of Bullhead City, AZ and Jesse of Oxford. She is also survived by six grandchildren, two brothers: Kenneth and Duane as well as other relatives and many friends. Sandy is preceded in death by two sisters: Barbara and Susan and her brother, William. A funeral service will be held for Sandy on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at noon at the Crawford Funeral Home in Oxford. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Don Larson will officiate and cremation will follow the traditional service. Inurnment will be private.
