Scott Choate

April 12, 1967 — June 12, 2012

Scott James Choate, age 45 of Montello, peacefully passed over to the other side at his parent's home Tuesday evening, June 12, 2012. Scott was born in Rockford, IL on April 12, 1967. He moved to Montello 12 years ago to be near his parents once again. Scott had always loved this area. His immediate family made numerous trips visiting both sets of Scott's grandparents; who had made retirement homes in the Montello area years ago. At a very young age, Scott became an avid fisherman and taught his son, Luke to love the sport as well. They spent countless hours on the water with Papaw Jim, as Luke spent summers with his Dad, Scott and grandparents, Jim and Alice. Scott grew up riding dirt motorcycles. He later bought his dream bike; a Harley-Davidson and spent many a day traveling the back roads of Wisconsin and also trips to the western states. Being a self-employed carpenter, Scott took on all kinds of remodeling endeavors with his good friend, Tim Shuman. Before starting cancer treatments, Scott had his six-year growth of hair cut and donated to 'Locks of Love.' This cancer foundation makes wigs from human hair for children who have already lost their hair due to cancer treatments. Scott is survived by his wife, Scottiann of Montello and son, Lucas of Rockford, Il. He is also survived by his parents, Jim and Alice Choate, sister, Karen Ackerson and her son, Sam and step-son, Mason Mitchell all of Montello along with numerous relatives and many dear friends who loved and respected him. Scott's grandparents, Glenn and Ann Anderson as well as Edward and Helen Choate preceded him to the spiritual side. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. One of Scott's last wishes was to have all memorial donations sent to the Budda-Box Fight Against Cancer, P.O. Box 91, Westfield, WI 53964. This local organization helped Scott in the last couple months of his life. Crawford Funeral Home of Montello is assisting the family with arrangements. www.CrawfordFH.com
