Shirley Ann Marotz, age 70 of Westfield passed away February 22nd. Shirley was born on June 12, 1953 in Wells, Minnesota to Lewis and LaVerna (Oelerking) Hockerman. She graduated from Westfield High School in 1971 and furthered her education at MATC. Shirley was united in marriage to Richard Marotz on April 27, 1974 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield; they were blessed with four children.
Shirley worked with her husband on the farm and raised their children. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield, where she instructed catechism and attended bible study when possible. Shirley gave her time for many years at the Orphan Grain Train and enjoyed music and quilting. Shirley loved her family and will leave a big void in their lives.
Shirley leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Richard and four children: Dan (Tristin) of Verona, Joe (Ann) of Westfield, Rebecca Marotz of Milwaukee and Emily (Alex) Melius of La Crosse as well as four grandchildren: Ethan, Johnathan, Abraham and Henry. She is also survived by James (Callie) Meiller, who has been like a son and their children: Tyson, Robin and Graden; and Steve Kemnitz, who supported the farm and her care in times of need. Shirley is also survived by two brothers: Norbert “Bud” (Kathleen) Hockerman and Donald (Debra) Hockerman; two sisters-in-law: Judy (Ed) Peirick and Kathy (Paul) Frey and brother-in-law, Eugene Hess. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Vernon (Barbara) Hockerman, brother-in-law, John Marotz and sister-in-law, Lynnette Hess.
The family is grateful to the staff at Traditions Senior Living (formerly Harris Villa) for the outstanding care they provided to Shirley.
A memorial service for Shirley Marotz will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Westfield. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church. Rev. Jesse Davis will preside and private family inurnment will take place at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to: The Orphan Grain Train, 486 N. Main Street, Westfield, WI 53964 or UW Carbone Cancer, 1848 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53726.
