Vernelia Jobe

Vernelia Beatrice Jobe, age 90 of Endeavor passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, May 3, 2016 at her home. Vernelia was born in Cordova, Minnesota to Sherman and Orsie (Stewart) Preble on January 7, 1926; she was one of nine children. She married Walter Fredrick Jobe in Norfolk, VA on June 25, 1945 and together they were blessed with ten children. Walter preceded Vernelia in death on May 13, 2004.

Vernelia was a teacher as well as a published poet. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed gardening as well as reading and writing. Vernelia loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, serving in the Ladies Aid and also a member of the Neenah Valley Home Makers. Vernelia is survived by her ten children: Austin (Mary), Marlene Kimball, Mary Lou (Samuel Jr.) Rizzotte, Tim (Mary Ann), Maggie Nitz, Suzy (Nick) Srock, Walter R. (Linda), Kathy (Mike) Klawitter, Robert (Wendy) and Patrick Jobe. She is also survived by: 37 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren as well as her sister, Lorraine Leischer. A funeral service for Vernelia will be held on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Oxford from 2:00 until 5:00 PM and again at the church on Sunday from 12:30 pm until the hour of service. Pastor Larry Sheppard will officiate and burial will follow the service at Spring Grove Cemetery, Wisconsin Dells. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the family for a memorial that will be established in Vernelia's name.
