W. Robert 'Bob' Dixon, age 95 of Montello, WI left this 'mortal coil' on Thursday morning, March 7, 2013 at his home on Buffalo Lake. Bob was born in Hudson, PA on September 16, 1917 to William Sr. and Mary (George) Dixon. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1938 and received a Master's Degree from Maxwell School in 1939. Bob taught History at Middleville School in New York, and in two years became Principal of the school. When war was declared, he went on to valiantly serve this country as a member of the United States Army Air Force, flying 80 missions in a P-47 Thunderbolt, and receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war he continued his education receiving a PhD and became a professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Michigan where he taught for 35 years, always advocating for higher learning and physical fitness. Bob was married to Carol Lewis for 60 years; she preceded him in death in 2003. Bob and Carol met on the tennis courts of Syracuse New York, both champions individually and as a mixed doubles tennis team. Bob is survived by his two children: William Robert (Denise) Dixon III of Boston, MA and Barbara (James) Barton of Montello, WI. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Bob is also survived by a niece, nephews, and countless friends. He was a wonderful and generous man. In addition to his parents and wife; Bob is also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Orville 'Buck' Dixon.
