Wayne Jensen

Wayne David Jensen, age 91 of Elkhorn, WI, formerly of Montello and Seymour, WI passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, October 12, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Wayne was born on February 16, 1921 to William and Angie Jensen in Seymour. He graduated from Seymour High School and valiantly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. On July 10, 1948 he married Mary Pat O'Connell in Montello; she preceded him in death on October 16, 2008. Wayne enjoyed racing harness horses and was inducted into the Wisconsin Harness Horse Racing Hall of Fame. He was an avid outdoorsman, who raised and trained his own hunting dogs. Wayne and Mary Pat enjoyed ballroom dancing and were members of the Seymour Dance Club. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wayne leaves behind his two children: Tim (Connie) of Dousman and Patty (Russ) Dzurick of Elkhorn and six grandchildren: Bill, Elizabeth, Jeff (Jen), Kelly, Kerri (Jim) and Katie. Wayne is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Lucas, Tessa and Lily as well as two siblings: Kathleen (LaVerne) Weishoff and Dr. James (Judy) Jensen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Wayne is preceded in death by two brothers: LaVahn (Nadine) and William (Gerry) along with three sisters: Joyce (Birnam), Opal (Elmer) and Beatrice (Joe). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Father Dave Carrano will preside and burial with full military honors by American Legion Post 351 of Montello will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Montello. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 277 E. Montello St., Montello, 53949.
