William “Bill” Fredrick Eskau, age 94 of Montello (formerly of Brookfield) passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Bill was born in Milwaukee on August 11, 1931, to Walter and Murial (Cassel) Eskau. Following high school, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. Bill was united in marriage to Shirley Sterr on February 20, 1954, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Together they raised their family in Milwaukee and Brookfield. Bill was employed by the City of Wauwatosa as a Maintenance Supervisor for over thirty years, retiring in 1989. After he retired, he worked part time as a plumber with his friend John Purell. He also volunteered at Elmbrook hospital. He and Shirley moved to Montello in 2015 to be closer to family.
Bill was a very talented woodworker and gladly shared his works with family and friends. He and Shirley traveled and camped across the United States in their favorite Hi-Lo Camper. Bill also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He had a great gift to be able to talk to anyone and share his knowledge, he will be greatly missed.
Bill is survived his wife of 71 years, Shirley and two children: Mary Borchardt of Mukwonago and Michael (Cowboy), daughter in law Dawn of Montello and son-in-law, Ralph Beswick. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his brother, John.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susan and three brothers: Walter, Joe and Tom.
Honoring Bill’s wishes, no services will take place.
