William Metcalf

William 'Bill' J. Metcalf, age 82, of Montello passed away peacefully Thursday evening, June 9, 2011 at the Montello Care Center. Bill was born on November 13, 1928 in Packwaukee Township, Marquette County to Walter and Jesse (Hall) Metcalf. Bill graduated from Montello High School in 1947 and married Delores Stubbe on October 1, 1949; she preceded him in death on January 8, 2002. Bill was a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello. He owned and operated Metcalf Brothers Muck Farms with his brother Vince where they raised many different crops and also cattle and hogs. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed cutting wood, hunting fox, trapping and hunting deer up north near Herbster, WI. He was always willing to lend a hand and will be remembered by his grandchildren, in the strawberries wearing his blue-jean bibs singing songs to them. Survivors include his five children: Jean (Kirt) Campion of Bellair, TX, LuAnn (Steve) Kasten of Montello, Carol (Glen) Bubolz of Montello, Tom (Wendy) of Montello and Bette (Rick) Krueger of Montello. Eleven grandchildren: Ben (Chelynne) Campion, Collin (Melissa) Campion, Sally Kasten, Jenny (Steve) Barganz, April (Matt) Mohrenweiser, Jana (Aaron) Vogelsang, Andrew Bubolz, Nicole Metcalf, Michael Metcalf, Michelle (Tom) O'Malley and Jonathan Krueger. Nine great-grandchildren: Nathan, Anna, Emily and William Barganz, Miriam Mohrenweiser, Skye, Brooklyn and Charlee O'Malley and Owen Campion. He is further survived by his six siblings: Vincent (Mary) of Montello, Mary Lou Bisch of Baraboo, Blanche Metcalf of Montello, Bob (Diane) of Montello, Eunice (Ken) Soda of Princeton and Judy (Jack) Steinhaus of Briggsville. Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Delores of 52 years, parents and one brother, Max. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Montello. Visitation will be held on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Father Michael Richel and Father Richard Lesniak will concelebrate the mass and a private family burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Montello. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the Marquette County Care and Share Food Bank or Commission on Aging Transportation Program; both programs share the address of P.O.
