Wilma Marie Jaster, age 91 of Montello went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 6, 2023. Wilma was born in Hammond, Indiana on December 5, 1931, the daughter of Erwin and Marie (Peterson) Disbrow. Her father bought a hardware store in Montello so the family moved to Wisconsin; she married Edgar Jaster on May 7, 1950 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello. They lived on the Jaster Homestead just outside of town and raised seven children while farming and working jobs in town to keep them clothed, fed and given a Christian education. Edgar preceded Wilma is death on February 5, 1990.
Wilma waitressed in the area and was also a caregiver at several nursing homes in Montello. She was a hard-working mother who spent hours cooking, baking, gardening, canning and caring for her large family. Wilma was happy we still carry on the tradition she started of making fruitcake to share and enjoy at Christmas time.
Those left behind to cherish Wilma’s memory are five daughters: Luann (Robert) Sittig, Jill Murphy, Becky (Doug) Schulz, Gail (Gary) Glunn and Kristen (Kris) Cragin and daughter-in-law, Terri Jaster. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as her sister, Carol Roach and brother, Paul (Marcia) Disbrow and several extended family members.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Joel, daughter, Nancy Jaster, son-in-law, Bob Murphy and brother-in-law, Forrest Roach.
A funeral service for Wilma Jaster will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Princeton. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. Pastor John Stelter will preside and burial at Eastside Cemetery in Montello will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
