Zelma Pein

Zelma F. Pein, age 88, of Montello passed away peacefully Monday, February 23, 2026 at Martha’s in Princeton. Zelma was born on May 2, 1937 in Vandalia, Illinois to Wilbur and Ellen (Kuhns) Lahey. She was raised in the Effingham, IL area and graduated from Yorkville High School. Zelma married Fred Pein on November 3, 1979 and they lived in Packwaukee for many years area and ultimately settled in Montello. Fred preceded Zelma in death on November 23, 2002. She enjoyed crafts, scouting out garage sales, fishing, caring for her cats and doing volunteer work.

Zelma is survived by one son, Lee (Gloria) Larson of Berlin and three sisters, Ella (Bob) Gottlieb of Morton, IL, Vivian Gordon of Brandon, MS and Nancy (Rob) Raether of Deerfield as well as a brother, James Lahey of Montgomery, IL.

Zelma is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Robert Lahey.

Zelma will be laid to rest at Underhill Cemetery, Town of Packwaukee with private services.
