Zona Head

Zona Mae Head, age 84 of Oxford passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her home.  Zona was born in Grand Marsh on March 22, 1939 to Albert and Bernice (Winkler) Ripley.  She graduated from Oxford High School in 1957.

She was united in marriage on her birthday in 1975 to the love of her life, Dennis Head, and they enjoyed 33 years together until his passing in April of 2008. 

Zona was an active member of the Oxford Community.  She was a longtime member of the Oxford Lioness as well as a member and elder of the Oxford Presbyterian Church.  Zona worked as the Librarian at the Oxford Village Library.  She and Dennis enjoyed traveling and she loved being surrounded by family and friends.

Zona is survived by three children: Leanne (Russell) McGuire of Oxford, Kirk (Joanne) Head of Portage and Marci (Steve) Mullens of Oxford as well as six grandchildren:  Danelle, Brittany, Jacey, Jacob, Joshua (Amanda) and Marlee.  She is further survived by great-grandchildren:  Landon, Tierney, Liam, Damion and Treyson as well as her sister, Joan (Peter) McCallister, brother-in-law, Butch Meyer and other extended family members.

Zona is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Kent Head, brother, David Ripley and sister, Linda Meyer.

Honoring Zona’s wishes, she will be laid to rest privately at the Oxford Village Cemetery with Pastor Brenda Pulver officiating.  A celebration of Zona’s life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 1:00 until 5:00 PM at Generation’s.
