Edna Mae Taft, age 86 of Oxford passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage with her son, Gary by her side. Edna was born at home in Brooks to Harold and Cecil (Beals) Elloitt on November 8, 1934. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1952 and married Donald Taft at her parent’s farm on June 18, 1953. Donald preceded Edna in death on November 20, 1973.
Edna was a strong-willed person, maybe even a little opinionated at times but mostly a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, going fishing as well as hunting for mushrooms. Edna found a special companion, Alfred Lavanway and together traveled to many places and spent many great years together. Edna will be greatly missed.
Edna is survived by her son, Gary and his children, Seth, Lauren and Sebastian as well as her new great-grandson, Cash. She is also survived by her son, Robert and daughter, Vickie and her seven children. Edna is further survived by her sister, Beverly Fry and brother, Hollis (Lilas) Elloitt as well as other extended family members.
Edna is preceded in death by her parents, husband, special friend, Alfred, three sisters: Lorraine (John) Premo, Betty (Blake) Chapman and Valerie (Alvin) Anderson as well as brother-in-law, Ervin Fry.
Memorial services for Edna Taft will be held in Spring/Summer of 2021 when it is safe to gather.
