Floyd Martin Davis, age 91 of Montello passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Montello Care Center. Floyd was born in Madison to Martin and Emma (Kuehl) Davis on April 3, 1929. He married Darlyne Dibell on September 23, 1956 in Dubuque, IA and together they had one daughter, Janet. Darlyne preceded Floyd in death on September 18, 1996. Floyd married Shirley Lynch in January of 2016.
Floyd owned and operated the Davis Well Drilling Company based in Montello for over 50 years. He drilled wells all around central Wisconsin until his early 80’s. Floyd was also a very talented woodturner, making wooden bowls and other unique items with his lathe. He also spent time as a milkman, carpenter and was known as a mechanical genius. Floyd liked a trip to the casino and will be remembered for his strong work ethic.
Floyd leaves behind his wife, Shirley Lynch of Montello, daughter, Janet Davis of Madison and step-son, Andrew (Sarah) Helgestad of Portage and step-daughter, Kirsten Drinkwater of Montello as well as four step-grandsons of Portage. He also survived by close friend and brother-in-law, Donald Morrical and other family members.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Darlyne, sister-in-law, Clarice Morrical, siblings and other family members.
Floyd will be laid to rest with private services at the Montello City Cemetery.
