Kenneth Blohm

December 25, 1942 — May 18, 2021

Oxford

Kenneth John Myron Blohm , age 78 of Oxford, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at his home. Ken was born in Milwaukee, WI on Christmas Day of 1942 to Elmer and Laura (Kehoss) Blohm.  He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1961 and went on to get his barber license and become a volunteer firefighter. Ken became a full-time firefighter for the city of Brookfield where he was, in part, the equipment operator, station cook and softball team’s home run hitter (which earned him the nickname Boomer). Retiring after 35 years of service, Ken and his longtime partner, Darlynn, relocated to Packwaukee on Buffalo Lake. Eventually, they moved to rural Oxford where Ken could return to his farming roots. On their acreage, they cared for cattle, ponies, chickens and chocolate labs.

Ken was the former president of the Packwaukee Lions Club, a weed cutter on Buffalo Lake and a part-time custodian for the Montello Schools.  Ken enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and construction. He was skilled at small projects; he designed and built decks, chicken coops, wishing wells, a swingset and much more. He will be fondly remembered for so much – his big heart, his even bigger laugh, his no-bs attitude, his cooking skills (Christmas prime rib, stollen and fried bluegill were some of his kids’ favorites) and for rarely missing his afternoon cocktail.

Ken is survived by his loving partner of over 30 years, Darlynn Melotik. He is preceded in death by his former wife, Karen (Reese) Blohm with whom he had four children: Trevor (Holly Hentz) of Brighton, MI, Tracy of Milwaukee, Kelly of Wisconsin Rapids, and Christopher (Sarah) of Seattle, WA.  He is also survived by his two cherished granddaughters, Karen and Penelope, his brother, Howie, and Darlynn’s children Kim, Jimmy and Dave.

Honoring Ken’s wishes, services will be private.
