Ronald Blada

March 3, 1936 — August 3, 2020

Ronald “Ron” Robert Blada , age 84 of Montello was called home to his Lord on Monday, August 3, 2020.  Ron was born at home on the family farm near Montello on March 3, 1936 to Walter and Elba (Owen) Blada.  He was confirmed into the Lutheran faith on May 14, 1950 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello.  Ron served his country in the Unites States Army from 1955 until 1958, spending two and a half years in Germany.  He married Evelynn Kollaszar on September 20, 1958 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello and together they are current members.

Ron worked at Roundy’s Foods in Milwaukee from 1959-1993.  He also served as the Teamster’s Local 200 steward at Roundy’s for 26 years.  Ron enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, turkey, duck and goose hunting as well as gardening, NASCAR and traveling.  He was a good loving family man.  Ron was quiet (he said because he couldn’t get a word in edgewise in at our big family gatherings!) and he will be remembered for his droll sense of humor.

Ron is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Evelynn, son, Jeffrey (Terri) of Prairie du Sac, daughter, JoAnne (John) Roesch of Ripon and five grandchildren: Pastor Josh (fiancée Hannah) Stibb, Derek Stibb, Cory (Aleah) Blada, Eric (Holly) Blada and Allison Blada.  He is also survived by five brothers-in-law: Allen Willkomm, Michael (Janice) Kollaszar, David (Mary) Kollaszar, Phillip Kollaszar and Kenneth (Julie) Kollaszar as well as three sisters-in-law: June Blada, Judy Blada and Christine Kollaszar.  Ron is further survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Florence Kollaszar, son-in-law, Allen Stibb, grandson, Jason Stibb, brothers: Donald (his twin), Wesley (Nancy), Stanley (Jean), Walter Jr. and Richard (Rose) as well as sisters: Marion (Edmund) Zuehls, Arlowayne (Bill) Wegner and Delores (Ken) Wartgow.  He is also preceded in death by brothers-in-law: Jim (Jane) Kollaszar, Bob (Carla Spinnato) Kollaszar and Larry Kollaszar and sisters-in-law: Beverly (Emell) Mire, Elizabeth Willkomm and Yvonne Kollaszar as well as nephews: Dennis Wegner and Robbie Kollaszar, niece, Peggy (Mark) Russell and great-niece, Tory Cywin.

Due to the current COVID19 pandemic, a private memorial service for Ron will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montello.  Pastor Pete Zietlow will preside and full military honors by American Legion Post #351 of Montello will follow the service. Ron will be laid to rest at the Montello City Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 313 E. Montello Street, Montello, WI 53949.
